Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a senior in 2017

  • Made 20 relief appearances and was one of three Govs pitchers with three saves while amassing a 1-1 record. Struck out 35 batters in his 32.1 innings pitched.
  • Appeared eight times in OVC play, recording 16 strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched while notching two saves.
  • Supplied 2.2 innings of relief in Govs elimination game win against Jacksonville State, May 25, allowing only a solo home run for lone hit in 10 batters faced, striking out two.
  • Notched season’s third save in scoreless outing at Lipscomb, May 16, retiring the side in order to preserve 3-2 victory.
  • After enduring rough patch that saw him surrender a run in six straight relief outings, closed season by allowing just one run in final three appearances totaling four innings.
  • Struck out four of the eight batters he faced in two scoreless innings of relief against Western Kentucky, April 25.
  • Made season’s longest outing at Eastern Kentucky, April 14, tossing 4.1 innings to take game from the seventh inning into the 11th inning. Struck out six of the 17 batters he faced, including the side in order in the 10th inning.
  • Notched saves in back-to-back appearances to start April, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings at Southeast Missouri, April 2, and striking out four in 1.2 scoreless innings against Belmont, April 9.
  • After allowing two runs in Govs season opener against Illinois State, Feb. 18 – his first appearance since 2015 – allowed just two runs (1.20 ERA) while striking out 18 batters in next nine appearances, totaling 15 innings.

As a junior redshirt in 2016

  • Suffered injury prior to the season and missed the year after undergoing “Tommy John” elbow surgery.

As a sophomore in 2015

  • Led Govs pitchers with 29 relief appearances, leading all relievers with a 2.78 ERA in 35.2 innings pitched. Finished season with 2-1 record and two saves while striking out 29 batters and limiting opponents to a .224 batting average.
  • His 29 appearances were 13th-most in program history, but it was the first time since 2007 no Govs pitcher made at least 30 appearances in a season. Finished year ranked third among OVC pitchers and 76th nationally in appearances.
  • Saw action in all three games of a weekend series three times during the season (Southeast Missouri, Tennessee Tech and SIUE).
  • Recorded first career save, notching final out in Govs 10-8 victory against Jacksonville State, March 15.
  • Saw action in both ends of Eastern Illinois doubleheader, March 8. Picked up win in Game 1 then struck out all six batters he faced in Game 2.

As a freshman in 2014

  • Pitched 45.2 innings in 24 appearances, including eight starts, finishing season with a 2-4 record and a 5.52 ERA while striking out 23.
  • Made four OVC starts.
  • Posted season’s second win in next start against Eastern Illinois, March 15, going seven innings with season-best five strikeouts and two runs allowed.
  • Picked up first collegiate win in season’s first start against Eastern Michigan, Feb. 25, going six innings and allowing two runs while striking out four.

Career Recap: Northeast HS

  • As a senior, District 10-AA Pitcher of the Year and All-District 10-AAA selection after posting a 5-2 record and 0.62 ERA with 89 strikeouts in 44 innings.
  • Named The Leaf Chronicle 2013 All-Area Pitcher of the Year and honorable mention all-state pick by Tennessee Baseball Report.
  • As a junior, he was 5-2 with two saves and compiled a 2.18 ERA and 56 strikeouts over 32.0 innings.
  • Played under head coach and former Governor Dustin Smith.
