• Made 21 relief appearances with 21 strikeouts in 15.2 innings pitched.
• Began season with his longest outing of the year, going 1.2 innings out of the bullpen against Boston College (Feb. 20).
• Struck out a season-best three batters in an inning of relief against Bowling Green (Feb. 27).
• Enjoyed season’s best stretch with five appearances, totaling 3.1 innings, without allowing a hit or a run (March 19-April 5), capping the stretch with a 1.1 innings of scoreless relief at Vanderbilt (April 5).

• One of three pitchers tied for the team lead with 19 relief appearances (Nunn and Weaver) in first season with the Governors.
• Posted a 2-0 record and two saves with 12 strikeouts.
• Had three appearances of at least three innings during the season and did not allow a run in any of those outings.
• Closed season with season’s longest outing with 3.2 innings of scoreless relief in OVC tournament outing against Murray State (May 29),but did not factor into the decision.
• Posted a win and a save in two appearances during SIUE series (April 23-24). Earned second victory of 2021 in Govs’ 12-inning walk-off victory in Game 1 of the set. Closed series with his season’s first save after recording game’s final two outs.
• Notched season’s first victory in Southeast Missouri series finale (March 20), tossing three scoreless innings and striking out two batters.

• Made 8 relief appearances in shortened 2020 season, recording four saves at McCook Community College in Nebraska.
• Finished with 9.0 innings pitched, 20 strikeouts (20.00 per nine innings) with five walks allowed. Held opponents to a .194 batting average and a 3.00 ERA.

• Did not play in his first season at McCook Community College.

• Was a pitcher and played third base for head coach Ryan Oden at Quincy Notre Dame High School.
• Named Herald-Whig Player of the Year as a senior in 2018 and was named to the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association’s All-State team.
• Allowed one earned run in 41 innings (0.17 ERA) during senior year. Finished season with 8-0 record, striking out 53, and limiting opponents to a .143 batting average.
• Batted .374 with 11 doubles and 28 RBI as a senior.
• As a junior, went 5-3 with 3.11 ERA over 45 innings, leading Quincy Notre Dame to the Class 2A Super Sectional.

• Nicholas James Wellman is the son of Johnny and Linda Wellman.
• Birthday is August 19.
• Has three siblings: Ryan, Andrew and Jenny.
