Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a senior in 2019

  • Made 16 relief appearances, posting a 4.66 ERA in 9.2 innings pitched.
  • Allowed just one run over his last 10 appearances totaling 7.0 innings (1.29 ERA).
  • Tossed a scoreless inning of relief against UT Martin to open OVC Tournament, May 22.
  • Made 2019 debut in Game 2 of the Kentucky series and saw a runner cut down at home during base hit to only batter he faced.

As a junior transfer in 2018

  • Made 23 relief appearances in his first season and recorded a save.
  • Did not allow an earned run in nine consecutive relief appearances, April 13-May 13, compiling seven innings during the streak.
  • Capped streak with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief at nationally-ranked Clemson, May 13, helping to keep the game tied and extend the game into extra innings.
  • Only run allowed during his streak was an unearned run at Middle Tennessee, April 24, which led to him being tagged for a loss in his only decision of the year.
  • Called on to record final out in his first APSU outing in Govs season-opener against South Dakota State, Feb. 16, inducing a foul out to record save.

  • Appeared in 14 games, totaling 11.1 innings pitched for head coach
  • Pieced together four scoreless outings, Feb. 20-March 5, allowing just one hit over four innings.
  • Received NJCAA’s Exemplary Academic Award.

As a freshman in 2015 at Park U. (Missouri)

  • Saw action in 14 outings for head coach Cary Lundy, posting a 2-2 record with a save over 22.2 innings pitched.
  • Notched wins in back-to-back outings against Missouri Baptist, March 28, and Wiley (Texas), March 31.
  • Threw six innings in relief at William Woods (Missouri), April 20, allowing one run and striking out four batters.
  • Named to American Midwest Conference Spring Academic All-Conference team.

Career Recap: Midlands Baseball Academy (Kansas)

  • Played two seasons of prep career at Midlands as a first baseman, outfielder and pitcher.
  • Batted .327 during spring of senior season with 15 RBI and had 15 walks to post .519 on-base percentage.
  • Made eight pitching appearances in senior season, totaling 10.2 innings.
  • Was a team captain and received program’s character award in 2013, batting .345 with 14 RBI during spring season. Made two relief pitching appearances.

  • Alton Ross Walker is the son of Jamie and Natalie Walker.
  • Father is Jamie "Cat" Walker, an Austin Peay baseball alumnus and member of the APSU Athletics Hall of Fame, who played 10 seasons in the major leagues (Kansas City 1997-98, Detroit 2002-06 and Baltimore 2007-09).
  • Born Feb. 16.
  • Has four younger siblings: Harlee, Hannah, James and Isaac.
