2022

  • Appeared in 16 games and made three starts, finishing the season with a 1-2 record and one save.
  • Struck out 19 batters in 23.1 innings pitched.
  • Opened his campaign with a victory in Govs’ Game 2 win against Boston College (Feb. 19), providing 4.0 shutout innings of relief and striking out four batters.
  • Notched his first APSU save with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three, against Bowling Green (Feb. 25).
  • Made first two starts against Lipscomb (March 8) and in Eastern Kentucky series finale (March 13), striking out four batters in 4.1 innings in the two starts.
  • Supplied a scoreless inning of relief at Saint Louis (March 20).
  • Ended season with a scoreless inning of relief against Morehead State (May 21).

2021

  • Began season as a reliever making 13 relief appearances prior to his start at Ole Miss (April 13). Finished season with a team-leading 20 appearances and seven starts.
  • Finished season with 4-6 record, tied for team lead in wins, and had 50 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched.
  • Was Govs most effective reliever with a 3.38 ERA and 2-1 record, striking out 18 batters in 16.0 innings.
  • Went 2-5 as a starter with 32 strikeouts in 34.0 innings.
  • Closed season with road victories at Eastern Illinois (May 7) and at Murray State (May 21) posting a quality start (6 innings pitched, 3 or fewer earned runs allowed) in each outing.
  • Struck out a career-high nine batters in second collegiate start at UT Martin (April 17) which saw him toss a season-high 7.1 innings and allow one run in a 1-0 loss.
  • Pieced together a streak of 11.0 consecutive innings of scoreless relief, spanning seven appearances (March 14-April 6).
  • Season’s second relief win arrived with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief at Eastern Kentucky (April 3).
  • Tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless relief at Northwestern State (March 7) for season’s first victory.

2020

  • Appeared in eight games at Austin Peay, twice starting as the designated hitter, and made one relief appearance on the mound.
  • Recorded one hit during the season and was hit by a pitch four times.
  • His first two pinch hit appearances resulted in him being hit by a pitch and scoring in consecutive days against Bradley and Evansville, Feb. 22 and 23.
  • Season’s lone hit came in start against Southern Illinois, March 4, where he went 1-for-3 and was hit by a pitch.
  • Lone pitching appearance came in season opener against Eastern Michigan, Feb. 15, and he provided 1.2 innings of relief.

2019

  • Appeared in 23 games during first season at Austin Peay, with 18 relief appearances and played four games as an offensive substitute and one start at second base.
  • On the mound, recorded 25 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched and was 2-for-8 with three RBI at the plate.
  • Along with brother David, was part of the first Governors brother duo to each hit a home run in the same game, May 11, at Eastern Illinois. David hit a solo home run in the fifth inning while Sebastian hit a three-run homer in the eighth after entering the game as an offensive substitute.
  • Recorded first collegiate victory against Western Kentucky, May 14, striking out four batters over two innings.
  • Pieced together four consecutive outings without allowing a run, March 24-April 2, streak totaling 5.2 innings and saw him strike out six batters while walking two and allowing three hits.
  • Tossed season’s first four-strikeout appearance in two-inning outing, March 16, against Tennessee Tech.

Prep Career

  • Pitched, played shortstop and outfield for head coach Mike Sindone at Treasure Coast High School.
  • Posted a 1-2 record and 1.75 ERA as a senior, striking out 43 batters in 40 innings pitched.
  • Also batted .328 with a .426 on-base percentage.
  • Finished junior season with 0.68 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 41.1 innings pitched.
  • Threw a no-hitter in second start of junior campaign, striking out 12 in seven innings, one of four shutouts he tossed.

  • Sebastian Alejandro Martinez is the son of Liliana and David Martinez.
  • Birthday is Oct. 29.
  • Has two older siblings, David and Estefania.
  • Brother David was a catcher for the Governors and is a member of the Miami Marlins organization, playing for the Beloit Sky Carp in 2021.
  • A communications major with a public relations concentration and minors in coaching and entrepreneurship.
