Biography

Looking ahead to 2008-09: Backcourt candidate will compete for playing time in first APSU season...enters season challengeing for time at point guard...although considered offensive-type point guard, has impressed with even more focus on distributing basketball...brings size to position...fiercely competitive individual who plays with great passion...hard worker...aggressive player who has great willingness to attack basket.

In high school: Played guard for Gary Stepp at June Buchanan High School.. only player in Kentucky prep history to score 3000 points and register 1000 assists for career.... as senior, averaged 24.7 points (fifth in the state), 7.3 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per contest...selected to participate for Kentucky squad in the annual Kentucky/Ohio All-Star game...chosen  first-team All-State, fourth time he earned All-State honors...was named honorable mention All-State as freshman, third-team All-State as a sophomore and second-team as junior after finishing in Top 10 in scoring each of those seasons...preseason McDonald’s All-America nominee... as junior,  led June Buchanan, school with an enrollment of 75, to its first regional championship and a Sweet Sixteen State Tournament berth at Rupp Arena...named 114th Region Tournament MVP...averaged 24.8 points per game as a junior along with 6.2 assists and 5.0 rebounds for 26-7 team...as sophomore averaged 24.5 points, 8.2 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game in pacing Crusaders to 23-6 mark in leading team to first-ever district title...as freshman, averaged 26 points and 9.2 assists per game for team that finished 18-8.

Personal: Plans to major in political science....selected Academic All-State as well as member of National Honor Society...son of Joe and Cindy Stepp...his father currently is President of Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, Ky...father was one of four legendary Stepp brothers who were Kentucky High School basketball stars...in fact, his father lettered at Ohio State under Hall of Fame coach Fred Taylor...born Jan. 1, 1989... age 19...will turn 20 two days before Govs play Morehead State at home.
