Andy Schmitt joined the Governors basketball program for the 2013-14 season as graduate assistant and will work as the program’s operations manager, video coordinator and travel coordinator.

He came to APSU after serving three seasons as manager for Illinois basketball, his first two years under Bruce Weber and 2012-13 for John Groce. His primary responsibilities for each coach was officiating practices, assist in recording practices plus other on-court duties such as running the scout team. In addition, he assisted the coaches with on-campus recruiting visits.

In the offseason, he served four summers as coach/camp counselor at the Illini Basketball Camp, helping coordinate daily drill instructions for campers as well as serving as an official.

Schmitt also has served as camp counselor/coach at multiple schools, including Purdue, Ohio, North Carolina-Charlotte, Xavier along with the Billy Donovan Gator Basketball and Jim Boeheim’s Big Orange Basketball Camps.
