Biography
2006-07: As a junior, earned All-OVC honors while competing in eight tournaments... ranked first for the Govs in win-loss percentage (.756) and rounds in the 60s (seven)... Leaver’s 72.3 season scoring average is currently ranked tied for first in school history with former teammate Yoshio Yamamoto while his career scoring average of 73.26 in 97 rounds currently ranks first all-time... currently ranked second all-time in career wins (2) and fifth for par or better rounds (37)...in the Govs second tournament, the Xavier Invitational, Leaver fired a career-low 66 for a 204 to finish in third... that 204 was a career-best for 54 holes and ranks as the third lowest 54-hole total in Govs history... became the first player in the eighth-year history of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate to repeat as champion, fired a three-round 208, defeating current teammate Erik Barnes by two strokes... finished sixth at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, shooting a 54-hole 210 total... struggled early in the spring season after competing for the 2006-07 OVC champion Austin Peay men’s basketball team... enjoyed his best finish, firing a three-round 234, finishing tied for 23rd at the OVC Championships... in the summer qualified for the Southern Amateur held at The Country Club at North Carolina... earned the spot by firing a two-under-par 70 at Vanderbilt’s Legends Club in Nashville.
2005-06: Competed in all 12 tournaments as a sophomore... ranked fourth on team in scoring average (74.0)... endured up-and-down early fall before finishing strong, in a third-place tie at Re/Max-UTC Fall Classic before earning medalists honors with an 8-under 208 at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate... ended year with two top-10 and three other top-20 finishes... Leaver’s opening-round 67 at the Earl Yestingsmeier Classic was fourth-lowest single round in Austin Peay history... his third-place finishat the Re/Max-UTC Fall Classic was a team best... battled knee problems in the spring... finished 19th at the Intercollegiate at Diablo Grande with a 233 total... followed that at the Eastern Kentucky Spring Invitational with a 229 total with rounds of 75-79-75, good enough for t-22nd... finished 21st at the OVC Men’s Golf Championships with a two-day total of 225... rounded out the year at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate improving each round for a 222 total, his lowest of the spring season... .finished second twice during the summer of 2006 behind teammate Chris Barron at the Planters Bank City Amateur and the East Tennessee Amateur.
2004-05: Leaver competed in all 10 tournaments for the Governors... had three top-10 and seven top-20 finishes plus a season-round average of 73.3... was the Govs top finisher in his first collegiate golf tournament the Raising Cane Classic... finished 13th at the Missouri Bluffs Challenge with a three-round total of 216... had season best fifth-place finish as Govs hosted the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, owning a three-round total of 211... his first-round 67 was tied for best on the team for the season (Metzger, Yamamoto)... had back-to-back top-20 finishes at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic (8th) and the Homewood Suites International (t-11th)... finished eight at the Eastern Kentucky Spring Invitational... was named the 2005 men’s golf OVC (Ohio Valley Conference) freshman of the year, also joined teammate Yosio Yamamoto as a All-OVC second team member.
High School: Played for APSU golf alumnus Jim Herron (1985-89)... played in three consecutive Tennessee Class AAA state tournaments... finished 7th in 2003, tied for third in 2002 (68-73-141) and tied for 24th in 2001... finished in sixth-place tie at 2003 Tennessee Boys Junior Amateur Championship... posted 23rd place finish at 2002 Tennessee Boys Junior Amateur Championship... finished in third-place tie in 2004 Golfweek/Titleist-ranked Signal Mountain Invitational... a two-sport standout at Hickman County High School, averaged 17.6 points for basketball team... was an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-State selection in 2004
