2024 | Austin Peay

  • Made 12 relief appearances for the Govs finishing the season with an 0-1 record after striking out 13 batters over 7.2 innings.
  • Made his debut with the Governors against Western Illinois (February 18) where he threw two perfect innings striking out three batters.
  • Threw an inning against Alabama A&M (April 30) where he fanned three batters and did not allow a hit.

2023 | Northern Kentucky

  • Made 22 relief appearances in final season at NKU, striking out 32 batters in 21.0 innings pitched.
  • Began season with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched against Eastern Michigan (Feb. 18).
  • Tossed a season-high three innings against Western Michigan (Feb. 24) and did not allow a run while striking out a season-best four batters and allowing only one hit.
  • Made four consecutive appearances without allowing a run (March 24-April 1), striking out seven batters in 5.2 innings over that span.
  • Tied his season best with four strikeouts over two scoreless innings against Eastern Kentucky (May 2).

2022 | Northern Kentucky

  • Started 15 games, finishing season with a 3-8 record while striking out 82 batters in 64.1 innings.
  • Winning pitcher in NKU’s upset of Mississippi State (Feb. 25), allowing only three runs on three hits over six innings while striking out five batters.
  • Struck out a career-high 10 batters at Youngstown State (April 9), picking up the win with a five-inning start.
  • Struck out nine batters in back-to-back starts against Purdue Fort Wayne. Went six innings but did not factor into the decision in home outing (April 15) and followed that with another six-inning outing on the role the following weekend (April 22) and suffered the loss.
  • Threw six shutout innings for season’s third win against Youngstown State (May 15), striking out four batters in six innings.

2021 | Northern Kentucky

  • Threw three complete games in 11 starts as a freshman and made 13 total appearances.
  • Posted a 6-6 record with 37 strikeouts in 63.2 innings pitched.
  • Made collegiate debut at East Tennessee (Feb. 21), allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six batters in 6.1 innings.
  • Notched first collegiate win with complete game against Oakland (March 13), allowing one run on five hits in a seven-inning outing. It was the first complete game by an NKU pitcher since 2016.
  • Held Milwaukee to one run over seven innings (March 20) but did not factor into the decision while striking out five batters.
  • Picked up season’s second win at Purdue Fort Wayne (April 3), striking out six batters in 4.2 innings.
  • Won three consecutive decisions to start May, picking up a relief victory at Butler (May 2) following by winning starts at Oakland (May 8) and at Milwaukee (May 15).
  • Struck out a season-best eight batters in complete-game victory at Milwaukee, holding Panthers to one run while scattering seven hits and not allowing a walk.

2020 | Northern Kentucky

  • Did not play during the COVID-19 shortened season at NKU.

Prep Career

  • Was a pitcher and first baseman for head coach Mark Thompson at Elder High School.
  • Missed bulk of senior season in 2019 due to injury.
  • Also was a defensive end for Elder High football team.

Personal

  • Kyle Richard Klingenbeck is the son of Kevin and Leslie Klingenbeck.
  • Birthday is August 10.
  • Has a brother, Kory, who is a catcher at Cincinnati.
  • His uncle, Scott Klingenbeck, played four MLB seasons with Baltimore, Minnesota, and Cincinnati.
