Kayla Oxenrider

Kayla Oxenrider was hired to be a member of head coach David Midlick’s first staff, June 1, 2015.

In her first season with Austin Peay, Oxenrider will serve as the program’s recruiting coordinator. In addition, she will work with the team’s wing players.

Oxenrider, a native of Ashland, Pennsylvania, joins the Austin Peay women’s basketball program after one season as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at St. Francis University. She assisted with recruiting, scouting and coordinating summer camps at the beginning of her tenure before being promoted to the recruiting coordinator in April.

“Kayla is passionate and enthusiastic about basketball, recruiting, and helping our players reach their full potential on and off the court,” said Midlick. “She is organized and has a vision for the direction of our recruiting efforts. I am lucky and excited to have her here at Austin Peay working with our team and representing the university.”

Oxenrider began her coaching career at Division III Albright College in 2013-14 where she assisted with planning daily practice and game plans, budgeting, fundraising and administering academic program. With Oxenrider on staff, the Lions posted a 13-12 record, the program’s first winning season since 2008-09.

Oxenrider was a four-year starter at Bloomsburg University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2013. She started each of the 117 games during her four seasons and the Huskies posted an 88-29 record during her career. Oxenrider finished her career with 1,327 points – eighth all-time in program history – and her 169 three-pointers and 267 assists both were among the program’s top 10 career marks.

A second-team all-conference selection, Oxenrider helped lead Bloomsburg to NCAA Division II tournament appearances in both 2011-12 and 2012-13 – the program’s first NCAA appearances since 2000-01. The Huskies also posted three conference divisional titles and one conference championship during her career. Oxenrider also was named a Bloomsburg Scholar-Athlete each year during her four-year career.
