An Austin Peay graduate, Jerome Jackson begins his second season as an assistant coach on Carrie Daniels’ staff in 2012.
In his first season, Jackson took over the development of Austin Peay’s frontcourt, specifically freshman forwards Alexis Hardaway and Jennifer Nwokocha. That duo combined for 10 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in their rookie campaign under his tutelage.
Jackson joined the Lady Govs after three seasons at the helm of the girls program at nearby Clarksville Academy. The Lady Cougars enjoyed two district 10-A MVP selections and eight all-district picks during his tenure.
“Jerome brings a wealth of knowledge through his many years of playing and coaching. He knows this program; he knows the OVC and has such a passion for teaching the game. He is a great fit and I look forward to him helping move our program forward with the goals we have in place.”

I know her goal is to win championships and I want to be a part of a program with those high goals.”
In addition to his duties with the girls’ team, Jackson was an assistant with the highly successful boys’ basketball team at Clarksville Academy for seven seasons. The Cougars won four district titles and a state championship during his time on the bench.
Jackson began his high school coaching career at Northeast High School in 2001, where he remained until 2006.
In addition to his duties as head girls basketball coach, Jackson assisted with the highly successful Clarksville Academy boys basketball team for seven seasons. During that time the Cougars won a state championship and four district titles.
Jackson began his prep coaching career in 2001 as an assistant boys basketball coach at Northeast High School.
Jackson played two seasons as a forward for the Austin Peay basketball team, averaging 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game during his career. As a junior transfer in 1998-99, he was named to the Ohio Valley Conference all-newcomer team and was a second-team All-OVC selection.
He joined the Governors basketball team after two successful seasons at Missouri State-West Plains, where he was an NJCAA honorable mention All-America pick as a sophomore.
He is married to the former Lenitra Jackson. They welcomed their first child, Mason, in February 2013.
