As a freshman in 2012 – Carlson appeared in eight games, starting twice (once each at first base and as designated hitter), and batted .364 with an RBI... appeared as a pinch runner and scored at Georgia State, Feb. 25... recorded first collegiate hit in start at first base against Iowa, March 3, finishing day 1-for-3 with run scored... recorded a hit in lone at-bat at Alabama A&M, March 6... started as designated hitter and went 2-for-4 with RBI against Akron, March 4... went 0-for-2 after entering game as a pinch hitter and playing shortstop against Illinois State, March 9... pinch hit (0-for-1) in Game 1 of Eastern Illinois series, April 6... did not play season's remainder due to injury.
