2023 | Austin Peay

  • The Govs’ Opening Day starter in right field and started 43 games – 25 in center field and 18 in right field – before suffering an injury against Florida Gulf Coast (April 28) that ended his season.
  • Batted .333 with 15 home runs and 46 RBI.
  • His .709 slugging percentage was the sixth-best mark in program history and second in the ASUN Conference.
  • His .461 on-base percentage was eighth-best in the ASUN Conference.
  • Led Govs with 14 multi-RBI games and had 21 multi-hit games.
  • Had a team-best 31-game reached-safely streak (March 7-April 25).
  • He began the season as Govs’ leadoff hitter and played center field against Illinois State (Feb. 17).
  • After his hitless debut, he hit .500 (9-for-18) in the next four games, with an RBI in all four games (6 RBI total) and a home run in three consecutive games (4 HR total).
  • Hit two solo home runs in a 3-for-5 outing against Southern Illinois (Feb. 21).
  • Hit a grand slam against nationally-ranked Vanderbilt (Feb. 28) and was 2-for-4 with a walk, stolen base, and three runs scored.
  • Put together six consecutive multi-hit games (March 28-April 6), batting .500 (13-for-26) with 11 RBI. The streak saw him hit a home run in three straight games: against Bellarmine (April 2), against UT Martin (April 4), and at Kennesaw State (April 6).
  • Had an extra-base hit in four consecutive games (April 12-16), going .471 (8-for-17) at the plate with four doubles, a triple, and a home run (1.000 SLG).

2022 | Oklahoma State

  • Played in 20 games, starting 12, for the Cowboys and batted .250 with two home runs and nine RBI.
  • Opened season with 2-for-5, three-run scored effort while starting Game 1 of a doubleheader against Wright State (Feb. 27).
  • Hit a pinch-hit three-run home run in Game 2 of the Wright State doubleheader (Feb. 27).
  • Season’s second home run came in a start against Missouri State (March 8) as he went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
  • That Missouri State start was the first of eight consecutive starts (March 8-23). He batted .269 (7-of26) in those eight starts with five RBI.
  • Pieced together a five-game hit streak (March 7-12) that saw him bat .438 (7-of-16) with four RBI and three extra-base hits.

2021 | McLennan Community College

  • Member of the 2021 NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series Championship team.
  • Earned NJCAA All-Region V Team honors.
  • Played in 64 games, finishing season batting .355 with 20 home runs, 69 RBI, and 73 runs scored.
  • Finished the season with a seven-game hit streak, including a hit in all five games of the NJCAA World Series. He batted .350 (7-for-20) with two doubles, a triple, a home run, and five RBI during the tournament.
  • Went 5-for-8 with three home runs and five RBI over two games in Region V Super Regional series against Cisco to qualify for NJCAA World Series.
  • Posted 4-for-6, five RBI performance against Howard Community College in season’s opening weekend (Jan. 30).
  • Hit a pair of home runs as part of a 2-for-4 outing against San Jacinto College (April 12) to finish a three-game stretch that saw him post 10 RBI.

2020 | McLennan Community College

  • Played in 24 games during the COVID-19 shortened season and batted .286 with three home runs, 21 RBI, and 21 runs scored.
  • Hit a grand slam against Angelina College (Feb. 7) in his lone hit of the outing.
  • Closed season with a 4-for-6, two double, three RBI performance at Temple Community College (March 11).

2019 | McLennan Community College

  • Played in 57 games, batting .335 with nine home runs, 47 RBI, and 48 runs scored.
  • Had three-hit outings in each game of a doubleheader at North Central Texas College (March 20), going 6-for-7 with a triple, two home runs, and six RBI in the twinbill.
  • Had seven three-hit games and one four-hit game during the season. Six of those three-hit affairs came during a 12-game stretch (March 9-30) where he batted .455 (20-of-44) with three doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 14 RBI.

Prep Career

  • Was a shortstop for head coach Bob Bote at Standley Lake High School.
  • Recorded a .421 batting average as a senior with seven stolen bases, seven home runs and 26 RBIs.
  • Rated the No. 1 shortstop in Colorado Class of 2018 and the No. 21 baseball player in the state overall.
  • Also competed in the high jump on the track and field team and was a member of the basketball team.
  • Was the 2018 Colorado Class 4A High Jump champion in 2018 with a jump of 6-10. Earlier that season he set a personal best with a jump of 6-10.5 in the Jeffco 4A League Relays.
  • Also competed in the 2018 Class 4A State Finals in the long jump after winning the Jeffco 4A/5A League Meet with a jump of 22-3.

  • Garrett Mason Martin is the son of Heather and Billy Martin.
  • Birthday is June 28.
  • Has three siblings: His twin sister, Savannah, Sydney, and Avery.
  • He was drafted in the 22nd round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles.
  • His father, Billy, played baseball collegiately at UT Arlington and was drafted in the 34th round of the 1998 MLB Draft by the New York Mets. He played in the Mets, Arizona and Washington systems in addition to a year in the Nippon Professional Baseball League (Japan).
