Career Recap: Austin Peay
2025-26 (Freshman)
The ninth player in program history to be named Freshman of the Year and the second to earn ASUN Freshman of the Year Honors… Became the first freshman since the 2021-22 season to earn all-conference honors after being named Third Team All-ASUN… Was a unanimous selection to the ASUN All-Freshman Team… One of six Governors to appear in all 31 games, while also ranking third on the team with 30 starts… Led all Division I freshmen and ranked 21st nationally with 2.13 steals per game… His 2.13 steals ranked sixth all-time, while his 66 total steals were fifth all-time and the most since Derek Wright’s program-record 89 during the 2007-08 season… Led Austin Peay, ranked fourth in the ASUN, and finished 15th nationally among freshmen with 4.3 assists per game… Third on Austin Peay, 13th in the ASUN, and 47th among all Division I freshmen with 13.5 points per game… Led Austin Peay in scoring five times and in assists 16 times… Scored in double figures 24 times with four 20-point performances… Tallied at least five assists 12 times… Began his collegiate career with six-straight games scoring in double figures – the first freshman to accomplish that feat in APSU’s digital record-keeping era… Scored 11 points and dished out six assists with no turnovers in his collegiate debut against Bryan (Nov. 3)…Scored 19 points in 21 minutes at Wyoming (Nov. 11)… Had 17 points, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals at Ole Miss (Nov. 18)… Tallied his first-career 20-point game with 25 points in addition to nine assists and six rebounds against ETSU (Dec. 12)… Swept ASUN weekly honors with a Player and Newcomer of the Week selection, Dec. 15… Scored 10 points and had three assists in addition two steals in 14 minutes during his lone appearance off the bench in the nonconference finale against Fisk (Dec. 28)… Tallied back-to-back 20-point games with 23 points against Jacksonville (Jan. 3) and 25 at Florida Gulf Coast (Jan. 8)… Also had three steals against both the Dolphins and Eagles, helping him again sweep ASUN weekly awards – making him the only player in the conference to sweep the awards multiple times… Scored a career-high 26 points against North Alabama (Feb. 7), while posting career-highs in made field goals (11), and three-pointers (4)… Recorded the first double-double of his career with 16 points and 14 assists against Bellarmine (Feb. 14). His 14 assists were the most by an APSU freshman and the fourth-most in program history... Also went 11-for-11 from the charity stripe in the win against the Knights… The game after his performance against Bellarmine, recorded seven steals in a 14-point performance at North Florida (Feb. 19). Those seven steals were a freshman record, tied for the most in the ASUN, tied for the second-most in program history, and tied for the most since Reggie Crenshaw’s record of nine in Feb. 1998… Had 11 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals against Central Arkansas (Feb. 25)… Ended the season scoring in double figures across APSU’s final four games, including 16 points, six assists, and five rebounds against Queens in the ASUN Tournament Semifinals (March 7).
Career Recap: Saint Mary’s South Side Catholic High School
A three-star recruit out of Saint Mary’s South Side Catholic High School… A three-time First Team All-State selection and the 2024 Class 5 Player of the Year… Four-year varsity starter, appeared in 104 games during his high school career, averaging 26.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game…  Averaged 31.7 and 31.5 points per game during his senior and junior year, respectively… Also averaged a career-best 5.2 assists per game as a senior… Donned a shooting split of 53.2/34.3/86.0 as a senior with 71 made three-pointers… Averaged 6.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.4 steals per game as a junior with a career-best 81 made three-pointers at a 41.8% mark… Averaged 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.9 steals per game at a 54.4/34.2/78.6 split as a sophomore… Averaged 14.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.7 steals per game as a freshman… Finished his prep career as the school’s all-time leader in points (2,735), steals (280), made field goals (280), and made free throws (573), while his 236-career three-pointers and 392-career assists are the second-most in school history.Â

Zyree Collins is the son of Kayla Williams and Freddie Collins… Has one sibling, Yuri Collins, who went to Saint Louis and currently plays for the Golden State Warriors… Born March 6.Â
