Clarksville, Tenn. – Sophomore defensive end Jaison Williams, of the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Continuing a season-long foray into opposing backfields, Williams notched 2.5 sacks in the Governors upset of nationally-ranked UT Martin, Saturday. He finished the contest with six tackles, including a strip-sack of Skyhawk quarterback Troy Cook in the fourth quarter to stall a UT Martin drive that had moved into Austin Peay territory.

The Trussville, Alabama native earned adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors for his work—his first as a Gov and the first by an Austin Peay defensive player since Antwaun Majors won for the week of Sept. 25, 2011.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Junior setter Kristen Stucker, of the volleyball team, made it three straight adidas® OVC Setter of the Week honors and five of six this season after pacing the Govs to a .251 attack percentage in a 3-0 week. She finished the week with six blocks, eight kills, 19 digs and 99 assists (11.0 aps), including 38 in a three-set sweep of Southeast Missouri.
  • Senior Mathew Biwott, of the men’s cross country team, finished eighth at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic with a 25:42.03 in the eight-kilometer race.
  • Junior Reagan Greene, of the women’s golf team, birdied the final two holes of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate to finish seventh (78-77-75-230), posting a team-best 75 in the final round and finishing as the team leader in birdies (seven) and pars (34) and shooting a tournament-best 2.80 on par-3 holes.
  • Freshman Christian Edison, of the men’s tennis team, picked up three wins and advanced to the Round of 32 at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship, including straight-set victories against Marquette’s Gregory Anderson (7-5, 6-3) and Oral Roberts’ Scott Hjelm (6-2, 6-4).
