Clarksville, Tenn. – Junior pitcher/outfielder Morgan Rackel, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
The versatile Canadian once more showcased her wide array of talents last week, leading the Govs to a 4-0 mark at ETSU’s Buccaneer Classic, becoming the first Governor in six season’s to earn adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honors.
In her lone start of the weekend, Rackel tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering three hits and striking out nine against East Tennessee State, Saturday, then returned the following day with 3.1 shutout innings in another triumph against the Buccaneers, striking out five in the relief effort. She also posted a complete-game, four-hit, 10-strikeout shutout in the midweek against Bradley in Austin Peay’s home opener.
In addition to her exploits in the circle, Rackel distinguished herself at the plate as well, hitting .571 (8-of-14) with three doubles, two runs scored and five RBI.
