Clarksville, Tenn. – Junior third baseman Danielle Liermann, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
The Simi Valley, California native became the first Gov since Austin Peay Athletics Hall of Famer Andrea Miller to earn two adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week honors in the same season after recording hits in all four games of the Governors 3-1 weekend against Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee Tech.
For the week, she hit .583 (7-for-12), pushing her season average up to .419, slugging 1.083 and swatting two home runs, including her league-leading 13th in the second game against Tennessee Tech, which put Austin Peay ahead for good.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Junior pitcher Jacques Pucheu, of the baseball team, struck out a career-high 10 batters in the second game of last weekend’s series against Southeast Missouri, keeping the Redhawks in check over 7.1 innings as Austin Peay won the contest and the series.
- Junior pole vaulter Savannah Amato, of the track and field team, earned her season’s fourth OVC Field Athlete of the Week honor after posting a 3.95m (12-11.50) mark at the Florida Relays, finishing sixth and maintaining her spot atop the OVC’s best lists. The Delaware, Ohio native ranks 24th in the NCAA East Region and 47th nationally in the event.
