Clarksville, Tenn. – Sophomore pitcher Jacques Pucheu, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
In securing a program record-tying third consecutive shutout for the Govs, Pucheu was simply electric on the mound, Saturday, scattering four hits over seven innings and striking out six for his season’s seventh win.
The Gulfport, Mississippi native held SIU Edwardsville to 1-for-12 when hitting with runner on base. In the second, with a runner on third and nobody out following a walk, a wild pitch and a passed ball, Pucheu buckled down and induced two ground outs and a strike out to end the threat.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Senior outfielder Kyle Wilson, of the baseball team, hit .412 (7-for-17) with six runs scored and six RBI last week, including a 2-for-4 day with a homer and a double in the series finale against SIUE.
- Senior outfielder Kacy Acree, of the softball team, hit .462 (6-for-13) and scored three times to help the Govs clinch the No. 2 seed in the OVC Softball Championships with three wins against Murray State and Tennessee State last week. She led off the regular season finale against Tennessee State with a home run, her season’s seventh.
