Clarksville, Tenn. – Senior outside hitter Cecily Gable, of the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Memphis native opened her senior campaign by earning tournament MVP honors at the UMKC Kangaroo Klassic, notching 53 kills and hitting .211 to pace the Govs to a sweep of Western Michigan, South Dakota State and host UMKC.

She opened the season by tying her career-high with 17 kills against both Western Michigan and South Dakota State before breaking that mark with 19 kills in the finale against UMKC. Her performance earned not only her second career tournament MVP honor—she was named MVP of The Citadel Tournament in 2016—but her second career adidas® OVC Offensive Player of the Week honor as well.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Senior setter Kristen Stucker, of the volleyball team, piloted the Govs to a .214 attack percentage and earned all-tournament honors at the Kangaroo Klassic, tallying 126 total assists and recording double-doubles against South Dakota State (46 assists, 10 digs) and UMKC (47 assists, 11 digs). She also earned her league-record 14th career OVC Setter of the Week honor.
  • Sophomore forward Claire Larose, of the soccer team, notched her first career brace with two goals in the Govs home victory against Alabama A&M.
  • Freshman libero Jaymeson Kinley, of the volleyball team, was OVC Defensive Player and Newcomer of the Week thanks to a 64-dig performance at the Kangaroo Klassic, earning all-tournament honors as well. She’s the first Austin Peay freshman to earn an award from the league office during her first week of play since Julie Burkhalter earned the now-defunct Freshman of the Week honor to kick off the 2001 season.
