Clarksville, Tenn.– Sophomore sprinter Sabrina Richman, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Richman posted third-place finishes in both the 200m and 400m dashes at the 2019 Vanderbilt Invitational last week, setting her among the top performers in one of the south’s toughest competitions. In the 200m, her 24.51 mark was bested by only two runners in the 103-woman field, moved her into the lead among Ohio Valley Conference runners in the event and was Austin Peay’s first sub-25 second mark in the event since 2014.

For her efforts, Richman shared OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week honors, her second recognition in three weeks from the league office. She leads the OVC in both the 200m and 400m events and is 38th in the NCAA in the 400m dash thanks to her early-January run at the Ed Temple Classic in Nashville.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Freshman wing Maggie Knowles, of the women’s basketball team, was named OVC Freshman of the Week after turning in the best weekend of her still-burgeoning Austin Peay career, posting 10 points at SIU Edwardsville and following it up with a career-best 16 points in a perfect shooting afternoon (6-of-6 from the floor, 1-of-1 from three, 3-of-3 at the line), adding seven boards to help the Govs earn their season’s first road victory.
  • Senior pole vaulter Savannah Amato, of the track and field team, increased her lead in the pole vault with a 3.99m mark at the Vanderbilt Invitational, placing third overall and second among collegiate competitors. Her performance led to her third straight OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week honor and the 11th in her career.
  • Sophomore forward Terry Taylor, of the men’s basketball team, poured in a career-high 33 points and added 12 boards in Austin Peay’s win at SIU Edwardsville, Thursday; he averaged 24.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks last week, shooting 50 percent (18-of-36) from the floor.
