Clarksville, Tenn.– Sophomore forward Terry Taylor, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
The Bowling Green native earned Ohio Valley Conference and Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after averaging 33.5 points and 13.0 rebounds for the week, hitting 55.6 percent (25-of-45) from the floor, 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from three and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) at the charity stripe. He had 25 points and eight boards in Thursday's ESPN2 matchup with the Racers, hitting 10-of-17 from the floor.
The Bowling Green native put his stamp on the week with a 42-point, 18-rebound effort Saturday at Morehead State. The 42 points represents the most by an OVC player this season and the first 40-point night by a Governor since Derek Wright in a triple-overtime thriller against Southeast Missouri, Jan. 29, 2008. The 18 rebounds were the most by any Division I player in 2018-19 and also were a career-best for Taylor, who posted his season's ninth double-double. Just for kicks, he set the Johnson Arena single-game scoring record by a league opponent and the first point he scored on the evening was his 500th of the season; he's one of two players in program history to score 500 points in each of his first two seasons, joining James "Fly" Williams.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
