Clarksville, Tenn.–Senior infielder Danielle Liermann, of the Austin Peay State University softball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
The Simi Valley, California native raked last week, hitting .591 with three home runs, a double, eight runs scored and 12 RBI, including the game-winner in all three wins for the Govs against Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky on Senior Weekend.
She collected two hits in each game, driving in runs in three of four contests to push her season average up to .368. She drove in four runs in the second game against Morehead State, bookending the contest with home runs in the first and sixth innings.
Liermann earned the fourth Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor for her work, becoming the first player in program history to earn four honors from the league office in her career.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Sophomore Morgan Bradley, of the track and field team, posted her first career victory in the pole vault at the 2019 Memphis Tiger Invitational, reaching 3.53m.
- Junior Tatiana Lopez, of the women’s tennis team, was instrumental in Austin Peay’s OVC Tournament title-winning run in Nashville last week. The Kansas transfer was the only Gov to go unbeaten at the championships, with two singles wins and a doubles victory, in addition to securing the winning point to claim the championship for Austin Peay.
- Sophomore Lennex Walker, of the track and field team, broke 14 seconds in the 100m hurdles for the first time in her Austin Peay career, taking third in the event in Memphis with a 13.99 run. She’s the second runner in the OVC this year to go below 14 seconds in the event.
- Senior Garrett Kueber, of the baseball team, rapped six hits in 11 at-bats (.545), scoring four runs, driving in five and slugging his season’s second and third home runs in a sweep of SIU Edwardsville that pulled the Govs into a tie atop the OVC.
