CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Senior quarterback JaVaughn Craig, of the Austin Peay football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

A Chattanooga, Tennessee, native JaVaughn Craig led the Governors to a second round blowout victory over the No. 4 National Seed Sacramento State. The senior QB ran for a career-high 164 yards and added a touchdown on the ground. Craig was also effective through the air, throwing for two touchdowns and 204 yards. The Govs QB accounted for 368 yards of total offenses, despite taking off parts of the third and fourth quarters.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Athletic Communications staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Junior Baniko Harley, of the Austin Peay football team, did it all in the Govs second round win over Sacramento State. Harley started the day with a three-yard touchdown reception. A few drives later, Harley would recover an onside kick, and cap off the ensuing drive with a 46-yard dash for a touchdown after taking a direct snap on fourth and one. He would then add another touchdown run in the fourth quarter to extend the Govs lead to 42-14, and put the victory on ice.
  • Junior Terry Taylor, of Austin Peay men’s basketball team, was the obvious catalyst for the Govs leading Austin Peay in scoring with 20 points aganist Arkansas and North Florida. Against the Razorbacks, his layup to beat the first-half buzzer sent the Govs into the locker room down just four on the road. Against the Ospreys, he grabbed two steals and blocked three shots.
  •  Freshman Carlos Paez, of Austin Peay men’s basketball team, was once again instrumental of Austin Peay’s success last week. The North Florida game is where he really shined, scoring 16 points on perfect shooting nights from the floor (6-of-6) and three (4-of-4) while handing out seven assists. According to CollegeBasketballReference.com's Play Index, he's the first Division I player this season to post 100 percent showings from the floor (minimum six attempts) and from deep (minimum four attempts), and the first player to have those percentages in a game with seven or more assists since Eastern Illinois' Terrell Lewis (Feb. 12, 2015 against the Govs).
