Clarksville, Tenn. – Junior guard Tiasha Gray, of the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Gray poured in 32 points in Austin Peay’s 66-63 road win at Eastern Illinois, Saturday, becoming the first Lady Gov to record back-to-back 30-point outings since current assistant coach Brooke Armistead in 2001-02. Gray added a game-high 11 rebounds for her season’s fifth double-double to go along with five steals and three assists.
The Clarksville native is having a stand-out junior campaign, and is among the nation’s leaders in scoring (20.7 ppg, 21st), assists (5.8 apg, 20th) and steals (3.4 spg, 8th). With both her and teammate Kristen Stainback ranking among Division I’s top-75 in three-point shooting, Austin Peay is 14th nationally as a team in three-point field percentage at 37.5 percent.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Senior Aleksas Tverijonas, of the men’s tennis team, clinched the Govs’ come-from-behind 4-3 win in the season opener at Chattanooga with a 7-5, 7-6 (4) win against Nick Wingord in No. 2 singles.
- Junior center Chris Horton, of the men’s basketball team, recorded double-doubles in both games last week, with 15 points and 16 rebounds at SIU Edwardsville and a 12-point, 12-board effort at Eastern Illinois. He now has three consecutive double-doubles for the first time since Dec. 7-17, 2013.
- Junior sprinter Kymmalett Ross, of the track and field team, placed fifth in the 60m dash with a 7.81 run and followed that with a strong leg in Austin Peay’s season-best 3:49.47 in the 4x400m relay at the Gladstein Invitational.
- Freshman guard Josh Robinson, of the men’s basketball team, took home adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season after averaging 14.0 points in two contests last week, including 11 in the Govs come-from-behind win against EIU.
