Football's Forte named APSU Athlete of the Week

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Sophomore linebacker Charlie Forte led the Governors' football team with 19 tackles in the their 28-
20 victory against the visiting Golden Eagles of Charleston (W. Va.), and in doing so has been named Austin Peay State
University Athlete of the Week.
The 19 tackles brings Forte's season total to 89 and marks the most in one game for the Govs since Dustin Wilson's 19
against Davidson in the 2000 season. The Springfield, Tenn., native recorded seven solo hits in the game.

Senior linebacker Ryan Taylor made some big plays for the Govs in last Saturday's win. The Olmstead, Ky., native had
a sack in the first quarter, forcing a fumble. APSU came up with the ball and proceeded to score during the possession.
Taylor, who is back after being sidelined with a ruptured blood vessel earlier this season, also provided the Govs with an
interception .

Rifle's Corey Hasty led the Lady Govs with a third-place finish in the 11-person field, last Saturday, as Austin Peay
hosted Murray State. The junior from Cordova, Tenn., fired a 571.

Sophomore Justin Metzger from Lenoir City, led the Govs golf team for the second consecutive tournament. He shot a
final-round 68 to go along with a pair of 71s last week to finish at six-under 210, tying him for third placein the F&M Bank
APSU Intercollegiate. Austin Peay finished first in its own tournament.

Freshman golfer Grant Leaver finished fifth in the tournament, shooting an even par-72 to end at 211. The Centerville
native opened the first round with an impressive 67, followed by a second-round score of 72.

Freshman Jaimie Thill was a driving force for the Lady Govs volleyball team last weekend. The Dubuque, Iowa, native
supplied a team-leading 12 kills in APSU's 3-2 defeat of Tennessee-Martin. Thill followed that performance with a .583
attack percentage at Murray State as the Lady Govs swept the Racers, 3-0.

Volleyball's Laura Wussow posted 10 kills in each of the weekend's matches. The sophomore from Black Creek, Wis.,
also provided five blocks against Tennessee-Martin and six blocks against Murray State.

Senior Erin Mitchell, a Belleair Bluffs, Fla., native, scored a goal for the Lady Govs soccer team in her final collegiate
match. APSU defeat visiting Trevecca, 6-0.

Jessica Hosse set an APSU record with her season's seventh goal in the 89th minute of play against Trevecca, last
Thursday. The freshman from Rockvale, Tenn., has scored more single-season goals than any other player in the
program's three-year history.
