CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Returning to its Wisconsin bloodlines, Austin Peay State University's volleyball team has signed
Allison Leonhard from Manitowoc, Wis.
Leonhard, a 5-11 middle hitter, was a two-time all-conference selection while at Lincoln High School. She battled through
a shoulder injury during her senior year but was named first-team all-conference and first-team all-county. Those awards
came after an incredible junior campaign that saw Leonhard named Lakeshore County's "Player of the Year." In addition, she
was a unanimous first-team all-conference honoree and first-team all-county. As a sophomore, she was a second-team all-
conference and all-county selection and was named the team's "Most Valuable Player."
"Allison has incredible jumping ability, reach and athleticism," said Lady Govs assistant coach Corey Carlin. "I believe
that she will make a huge impact in the future ? given time to develop her skills. She comes into a situation where she can
learn behind two very good middle hitters (junior
Laura Wussow and sophomore
Jaimie Thill), and that should only help her
improve with time."
Leonhard joins a trio of current Austin Peay players who call the Badger State home: Wussow, from Black Creek, Amber
Stein, from Appleton and
Ashley Genslak, of KauKauna ? all hailing from the same conference and living within 40 miles of
each other. In addition, Wisconsin has been home to five Lady Govs alumnae: Anne Glieber, Casey Kelley,
Sarah Schramka,
Becky Sowinski and Cindy Wall.
