Sexton runs his way to athlete of the week honor

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Freshman Ryne Sexton led the Govs with a third-place finish in a race comprised of 78 runners at
Vanderbilt's Commodore Classic, Saturday, and with his performance he earns the Austin Peay State University Athlete of the
Week honor.
Sexton, from Hendersonville, was the field's first freshman to cross the finish line, doing so with a time of 25:48.22 over the
eight-kilometer course. It is the first time he has led the Govs this season, after finishing second for Austin Peay in the season's
first two meets.
The Austin Peay Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic
year.
Other notable performances last week included:
Charlie Forte led the Govs' defensive effort against Dayton last Saturday. The senior linebacker posted 16 total tackles,
including four solo tackles.
In women's golf, freshman Monica Storey (Fayetteville) finished in a tie for 16th place last week at the Lady Herd
Classic, hosted by Marshall. In her first collegiate tournament, Storey shot a 241 (84-78-79) to lead the Lady Govs to an
eighth-place finish.
Cross country runners Tim Hall (Madisonville) and Josh Yeckering (Owensboro, Ky.) each finished in the top-10 at the
Commodore Classic, posting times of 25:52.56 and 26:14.48, respectively. Hall, a freshman, finished in fourth place,
just four seconds behind teammate Sexton. Yeckering crossed the line in 10th place.
