Govs head to Nashville to face Belmont

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay will head back to the road in its effort to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Govs will make the short jaunt to Nashville to face Belmont, 7 p.m., Wednesday at the Curb Event Center. Belmont is running a special where fans can purchase tickets for just $1 apiece.

This is a rematch of a Nov. 17 contest where the Govs used a late 10-1 run to pull away from the Bruins for a 71-56 decision in Clarksville.

Drake Reed scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Governors while Justin Hare led Belmont with 13 points.

The Governors come into the road contest at 4-6 after losing 64-55 at home to Akron, Saturday night. The Govs led 29-27 at halftime but could score just 26 second-half points. Reed led the Governors with 17 points as only two Govs broke into double digits.

Meanwhile, Belmont comes in at 7-4 after defeating Tennessee State, 82-71, at home, Monday night. Hare, who leads Belmont with a 14.5 ppg scoring average, had 23 points and six assists in the victory. Belmont outrebounded Tennessee State by a 40-27 margin, including 15 offensive grabs.
