Road trip opens with win at UAPB for Lady Govs soccer

PINE BLUFF, Ark. - A pair of freshmen led the way in Austin Peay State University women's soccer team's 2-0 win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Lady Govs improved to 2-5, while the Lions fell to 1-3.

Jocelyn Murdoch scored her season's first goal, while Rian Barger provided the insurance for her season's second goal. Both goals came in the second half after a first half of missed opportunities according to head coach Kelley Guth.

"We played a strong first half, but there were times where we failed to capitalize in attack positions," Guth said. "The main thing is that we're finding a way to win. We have to play a full 90 mintues of soccer every time we go out. We'll find a way to put the ball in the back of the net."

Arkansas-Pine Bluff was the first of a three-game road trip for the Lady Govs, who now travel to the Winthrop Invitational, in Rock Hill, S.C., for games with Coastal Carolina, Friday, and Winthrop, Saturday.
