CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University men's tennis team were shutout in a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matches, Friday and Saturday, by Jacksonville State and Tennessee Martin. The Govs fall to 1-6 overall with an 0-2 league mark.

Austin Peay sophomore Francisco La Puente did not play against Jacksonville State due to a shoulder injury, leaving the Govs a match down in both the doubles and singles competitions. When senior Lucas De Brito and junior Leonardo Locatelli picked up a win in the No. 1 doubles match, 8-5, it came down to the Govs No. 2 team. However, without La Puente available, Austin Peay paired sophomore Bret Shaw with freshman Renan Bezerra. That tandem was not enough for JSU's Scott Robertson and Eduardo Saratt who picked up the deciding win for the doubles point.

In singles action, the Gamecocks continued to roll, winning each match in convincing fashion. Locatelli, in fact, lost for the first time in three matches at No. 1 singles. Each of the Govs went on to lose their respective singles matches in straight sets.

Against Tennessee Martin, La Puente returned to the lineup, but failed to make much of a difference. The Govs were blown out in both singles and doubles, with the No. 3 doubles match pulling the closest score. Shaw and Dusty Brady lost 8-5 to UTM's Matthew Harris and Shuntaro Tsukiyama. On the singles side, only Shaw won more than three games in a set, with each Govs player falling in straight sets.
