CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay women's tennis team shutout
Alabama A&M to the tune of 5-0, Saturday at the Governors Tennis Center.
Winning the doubles point set the tone for a well-played
match by the Lady Govs. The doubles competition has been a strong indicator of
how Austin Peay will fare, seeing as it has taken the point in each of its
three wins.
Carolin Weikard and Michelle Liew won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles,
while Demi Georgakopoulos and Brittany Hays pulled out an 8-4 win at No. 3
doubles. The No. 1 doubles match did not finish.
With the momentum set, the Lady Govs rattled off four wins
on the singles side to wrap up the match. The only trouble came at No. 4 when
Michelle Liew needed a tiebreaker to put away Brittany Jelks in straight sets.
The Lady Govs return to action with a 1 p.m., Sunday, match
against Chattanooga.
