CLARKSVILLE  - Austin Peay State University men's tennis team picked up a 6-1 against Eastern Illinois, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.

The Govs won the top two doubles matches to take the point and cruised to five straight-set singles win to set the final margin. Austin Peay improves to 11-5 overall with a 4-2 OVC mark. Eastern Illinois, meanwhile, falls to 2-13 overall and 1-5 in league action.

"I've felt for a while like we haven't played enough matches to really get a good feel on the court," Tabet said. "Today, we were able to make some important adjustments that will pay off in the long run. We played aggressive and I feel like we made some strides in this match."

It was the fourth consecutive doubles point win for the Govs, and second straight win for the Govs top team of sophomores Sean Bailey and Henrique Norbiato. Freshmen Jasmin Ademovic and Remi Calleja won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles to wrap the point.

Austin Peay remained focused in singles play. Norbiato won his third-straight match at No. 1 singles, while Ademovic did the same at No. 2. Norbiato and Ademovic swapped positions prior to the Middle Tennessee match and both have done well since.

Bailey also picked up a straight-set win at No. 3, while freshman Joao Pagan rebounded from his Thursday loss with a straight-set win at No. 4. Sophomore John Storie also won at No. 6.

The Govs will play their third OVC match in four days when it travels to Murray State for a 1 p.m., Sunday match.
