for the 2014 season as a pitcher.

CLARKSVILLE - Austin Peay State University
softball team has added pitcher Allie Blackwood during the fall signing period.
Blackwood was
11-7 for her Dalton (Ga.) High School squad last season, with a 1.75 ERA and
104 strikeouts in 115 innings pitched. She also hit .443 with 23 RBI as a third
baseman, earning all-region honors for the second consecutive season.
She saved her
best for the postseason, winning five straight games to push the unranked Lady
Catamount's into the second round of the Class 4A state play-offs.
Blackwood and fellow signee Sidney Hooper give
Lady Govs head coach Stephanie Paris a pair of top hurlers to build her program
over the next four years.
"Allie has great
movement on the ball," Paris said. "I see her complementing two of our other
pitchers who throw hard. She's going to be a great addition to our pitching
staff for the 2014 season."
