The Govs football team ended a number of streaks with its 23-17 OVC win at Eastern Kentucky back in September. It ended the Govs 10-game losing streak and a seven-game OVC losing streak. More importantly, it was the first time Austin Peay won back-to-back games in Clarksville – they won the 2010 meeting previously – in program history. The offensive side of the game was well taken care of by the Jake Ryan-to-Devin Stark combo. Stark became the first wide receiver to score three touchdowns in a game since 2008. Ryan completed just 13-of-27 passes for 133 yards, but connected on touchdown tosses of 16, 5 and 11 yards. Tailback Ryan White also had a big hand in the outing, rushing 27 times for 132 yards to keep drives chugging down the field. Then there was the Govs defense, which broke out of its early season funk – which was helped along by opening contests against FBS squads Cincinnati and Memphis – to record its season's first two interceptions and first four quarterback sacks. The defense also put a pair of points on the board when Amius Smith stopped EKU running back Jeremiah Williams in the end zone for a safety. The win loomed even larger as the season progressed as Eastern Kentucky went on to win a share of the OVC title and earned a berth in the NCAA Football Championship.
