WKFN to join Gov Sports Network for 2012-13

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.-WKFN will join the Governors Sports Network for the 2012-13 sports season.

WKFN, located at 540 on the AM band, will join flagship station, WVRY (105.1 FM), carrying Austin Peay football, men's basketball, OVC women's basketball and baseball during the upcoming season, including pre- and post-game shows along with coaches shows. WKFN, the "Fan," has day-time power of 50,000 watts.

WKFN, formerly WDXN, is owned by Saga Communications and is part of the 5-Star Radio Group in the Clarksville area. WDXN served as The Govs Flagship station during the 1993-94 football and basketball season. It also served as home to Govs football during the non-scholarship era.

With the addition of WKFN, the Governors Sports Network now includes a broadcast coverage area that stretches from the Alabama state line in the south to Southern Indiana in the north and into Illinois to the West.

WKFN's first broadcast as part of the Govs Sports Network, is expected to come in mid-August when the Governors basketball team plays Seneca College, 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, in Toronto, Canada, as part of a three-day international exhibition series.
