APSU Post-Game Notes

  • The loss was the Govs 31st straight road defeat, the nation's longest active streak The Govs have not won a road game since defeated Tennessee State, 26-23, Sept. 18, 2010.
  • With the loss to Southeast Missouri, APSU falls to 1-10 this season—the seventh time in program history the Govs have endured double-digit losses.
  • With this four punts, Saturday, Ben Campbell tied his own APSU single-season record for punts with 87.
  • SEMO finished the game with 531 yards total offense, the fifth time this season APSU has permitted 500 or more yards total offense.
  • Meanwhile, Austin Peay totaled just 284 yards total offense, the ninth time this season the Govs accumulated less than 300 yards total offense.
  • APSU's offense failed to score a TD for the fourth time this season against Southeast Missouri—the Govs only score came from the defense.
  • Trey Taylor made his first start at quarterback since the season opener at Memphis. He finished 14 of 28 passes for 156 yards.
  • After making both his field-goal opportunities against Tennessee State, placekicker Dakota Vincil missed a first-quarter 32-yard attempt.
  • Freshman Malik Boynton (54 yards) and sophomore Rashaan Coleman (50 yards) led the Govs in receptions with five.
  • Damien Whitfield's third-quarter interception return for a touchdown was APSU's first defensive score in four seasons, the last occurring Sept. 24, 2011 when Amius Smith recorded a safety against Eastern Kentucky.
  • Whitfield's interception was only the Govs' fourth pick this season. Montez Carlton (one) and Roderick Owens (two) had the other Govs picks.
  • Johnathan Shuler led the Govs in tackles against Southeast Missouri. It was his first double-digit tackling performance this season. He also had his season's first sack.
