Post-Game Notes: Lady Govs vs. Tennessee State

  • The overtime loss is the first by Austin Peay since Feb. 27, 2013 at Belmont (71-58). The Lady Govs are now 26-20 all-time in overtime games.
  • Austin Peay has now lost five-straight against Tennessee State, putting the all-time series record at 31-26.
  • The Lady Govs are now 3-2 in Ohio Valley Conference play, matching the start of the 2010-2011 team.
  • Sophomore center Tearra Banks scored a career-high 25 points on Saturday, breaking her previous mark of 22 points against Grand Canyon on Nov. 22. Banks also grabbed 10 rebounds against the Lady Tigers.
  • Junior guard Tiasha Gray reached the 1,000-point milestone with her 19 points on Saturday. Gray needed 12 coming into the contest, and hit a three-pointer with 3:58 to go in overtime to eclipse 1,000.
  • The Lady Govs held Tennessee State to just 22 points in the first half, the second game in a row in which APSU has held the opposition to under 25 points in a half.
  • Austin Peay held a 14-point halftime advantage, but the Lady Tigers stormed back to out-score the home team 41-27 in the second half.
  • The Lady Govs dropped their shooting percentage to 37.5% in the second half, and did not convert on its five three-point tries.
  • In overtime, TSU shot an astounding 85.7% (6-of-7) compared to APSU's clip of 62.5%.
  • Thirty-one turnovers were committed by APSU in the game, the most in a single game this season. The Lady Tigers took advantage of the mistakes, scoring 31 points off turnovers.
  • In turn, Tennessee State had 17 steals, the highest total allowed by APSU this season.
  • However, the Lady Govs controlled TSU on the glass, out-rebounding their opponent 57-45. The 57 rebounds matches APSU's season-high after having the same total against Oral Roberts on Nov. 29.
