Player of the Game: Garrett Copeland (4-for-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R)
Austin Peay (22-18, 13-10 OVC) was on the losing end of the scoreboard on Saturday, dropping Game 2 to Morehead State by a score of 10-5.
APSU starter Zach Hall gave up three runs in the opening frame, and the Govs never led after that point despite pulling within one run twice in the contest.
The Govs were 0-for-5 with the bases loaded and 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position.
THE LINEUP
Ridge Smith… Starting behind the plate, Smith went 2-for-4 with a walk in the contest.
Cayce Bredlau… Bredlau was 0-for-2, but reached base twice with walks and scored once.
Garrett Copeland… Copeland led the Govs with a 4-for-5 day, including a pair of doubles, and two runs driven in.
Josh Wilson… Wilson's lone hit out of the clean-up spot was a single in the fourth inning.
Alex Robles… Robles went 1-for-3 with a RBI double in the seventh.
Dre Gleason… Gleason was 2-for-3 with a single and double to go along with two walks.
Patrick Massoni… Massoni had a sacrifice fly in the fourth for an RBI, going 0-for-3 overall.
Kyle Blackburn… Serving as the DH, Blackburn was 0-for-3 before being replaced by Purcell.
Imani Willis… Getting the start at second base, went 2-for-5 with a double and run scored.
Wesley Purcell… Purcell pinch-hit for Blackburn in the seventh, going 0-for-2.
ON THE MOUND
Austin Peay pitchers combined to allow 10 runs on 14 hits on Saturday.
Zach Hall took the loss, dropping his record to 1-6, after allowing nine hits and six runs (four earned). He also walked three Eagles and struck out two.
John Sparks was the first Gov summoned out of the bullpen, with the lefty going 3 1/3 innings. The freshman was clean until the ninth before MSU connected to score four runs in the frame. Jake Corum picked up the final out for APSU after facing one batter.
