CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University's volleyball team brings its 2016 regular-season schedule to an end when it hosts SIUE and Eastern Illinois in a pair of Ohio Valley Conference contests, Friday and Saturday, at the Dunn Center.
The Govs will host SIUE in a 6 p.m, Friday contest that is part of a day-night doubleheader with the women's basketball team (1 p.m. tipoff against Miami). Friday's contest will feature senior night recognition for outside hitter Sammie Ebright, the Govs lone senior, prior to the start of the contest. In addition, the matchup with SIUE is an opportunity for APSU to move up to second place in the OVC standings.
Austin Peay then will close the regular-season slate with a 1 p.m., Friday contest that is the opening half of a doubleheader with the Governors football team (4 p.m. kickoff against Eastern Kentucky). A Govs sweep of the two contests would assure it at least a tie for second place in the OVC race and would guarantee it the No. 2 seed in next week's OVC Volleyball Championship.
Austin Peay will look to carry forward the momentum it built during an impressive October that saw it post a 10-1 record. The Governors have won 17 of their last 19 contests.
