Moore named all-tourney, Govs split Saturday contests

MUNCIE, Ind. – Junior Brooke Moore became the first Austin Peay State University player to post a 20-20 performance since 2009, helping the Govs earn a split of its Saturday contests at the Active Ankle Challenge hosted by Ball State. The Govs defeated Missouri State in five sets (25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 24-26, 15-13) before falling to red-hot Wright State in three sets (16-25, 27-29, 19-25).

Moore opened the day with the best performance of her career, amassing 29 kills and 22 digs in the Govs five-set win against Missouri State. It was the first 20-20 performance by a Govs hitter since Stephanie Champine's 21-kill, 25-dig performance in 2009. In addition, her 29 kills was the fourth-best single-match total in program history and most since 2012.

In the nightcap, Moore and sophomore Jenna Panning each had 12 kills in the Govs three-set loss to Wright State, which won its 11th consecutive match. The Moore-Panning tandem accounted for 24 of the Govs 37 kills in the match.

Moore earned Active Ankle Challenge all-tournament team honors after leading the Govs with 47 kills (4.27/set), a .260 attack percentage and 43 digs (3.91/set).

Austin Peay continues its season-opening 16-match road trip with a 6 p.m., Tuesday contest at Western Kentucky.
