Govs volleyball launches delayed 2020 campaign, Sunday and Monday

February 06, 2021

CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University's volleyball team opens the long-awaited 2020 volleyball season – 161 days after its originally intended start – when it hosts Tennessee Tech in a two-match homestand, Sunday-Monday, at the Dunn Center. The Govs and Golden Eagles will meet at 2 p.m. each day.

This weekend's opening series pits the Governors, picked fifth in the league's preseason poll, against a Tennessee Tech team that was tapped to finish seventh in the same poll. The Golden Eagles won the last meeting between the two teams, more than a year ago, but Austin Peay has won the last eight meetings against Tennessee Tech in the Dunn Center.

Senior outside hitter Brooke Moore, a Preseason All-OVC selection, returns after becoming the eighth Govs player to join the "Double-Grand Club" last season, surpassing both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs during her career. She enters this season ranked among APSU's Top 20 in both statistics: 13th in kills (1,038) and 20th in digs (1,067).

Watch on ESPN+

Both matches this weekend and 14 of the Govs 16 Ohio Valley Conference outings, including all eight home matches, will be broadcast on ESPN+. Govs volleyball alumnus Ashley Slay Glotta will provide the play-by-play for all the Governors home games this season.
