Nashville, Tenn.-Austin Peay State University's track and field team competed at Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge, Friday and Saturday, at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility. It was highlighted by 16 personal bests and wrapped up the indoor regular season.
Ja'Kyah Montgomery and Myra Erikson kicked off the meet in the high jump, with both of them jumped 1.50M, a personal best for Montgomery. Eriksson continued the meet in the pole vault, earning a 14th-place finish with a 3.12M vault. The trio of Emma Tucker, Chloe Peterson, and Marcia Dejesus competed in the weight throw, with Tucker leading the way, throwing a personal best 15.57M. Peterson followed with a 12.99M throw, and Dejesus threw a personal best 12.52M.
Madelyn Kocik competed in the seeded long jump, jumping 5.40M. Emmani Roberts competed in the unseeded long jump, jumping a personal best 5.09M, and wrapping up field events for the day.
Shaye Foster and Mary Kate French kicked off running events for the day, with Foster leading the way, posting a personal best 5:06.47 time in the mile. French followed with a personal best time of 5:28.30. Busiwa Asinga led the way in the 200M, earning a 22nd-place finish with a time of 24.87. Trinity Bracey followed closely with a time of 24.99, and Taylin Segree recorded a time of 25.41. Ashley Doyle wrapped up Friday with a time of 18:30.45 in the 5,000M.
Sydney Freeman paced the 3,000M for the Govs, with a personal best time of 10:25.74. French followed with another personal best time of 11:19.37. Foster off a quick turnaround from the mile yesterday, posted a time of 2:19.74 in the 800M. Taylah Upshaw followed with a personal best time of 2:20.31. Tucker kicked off field events for Saturday, placing 17th with a 12.38M throw in the shot put. Dejesus followed with a 10.18M throw, and Chloe Peterson threw a mark of 9.33M.
Gabrielle Miller posted a personal best time of 7.71 in the 60M, only two places off qualifying for finals. She was followed by two personal bests from Seven Pettus (7.83) and Alijanae Cole (7.84), and a time of 7.87 from Gabrielle Hoskins. Four jumpers wrapped up field events for the weekend, with Kocik placing 14th in the triple jump with an 11.80M jump. She was followed by three personal bests from Eriksson (11.77M), Denim Goddard (11.40M) and Montgomery (11.26M).
Segree earned a seventh-place finish in the unseeded 400M, with a time of 56.51. In the seeded 400M, Mia McGee placed 10th with a 55.96 time, and Bracey followed with a time of 56.54. The Govs 4x400M relay team wrapped up the meet with a 12th place finish and a time of 3:48.92.
