CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University's Athletics Department and Five Start Radio Group present the weekly Austin Peay Coaches Show with head women's basketball coach Brittany Young and men's basketball coach Corey Gipson at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at Buffalo Wild Wings on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
Young and Gipson join host Brian Rives to recap the week. The two head coaches will also be joined by Me'Kell Burries and a player from the women's program.
The men's team defeated Bellarmine in an 86-77 overtime thriller at F&M Bank Arena. Sai Witt's 25-point, 12-rebound performance paced the Govs, as Anton Brookshire had 21 points, going 5-for-8 from the floor and 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. Isaac Haney and LJ Thomas rounded out the Govs' double-figure scoring performances with 17 and 10 points, respectively.
Witt paced the Govs in the loss at Eastern Kentucky with 29 points, just one point shy of his career-high. LJ Thomas put 19 points on the board, with Anton Brookshire having 14. The Governors and the Colonels went back and forth, seeing 18 lead changes and four ties, but EKU scored the game's final six points for the 88-82 win.
The women took losses at Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast in their Florida Swing of the ASUN season. La'Nya Foster led the Govs with a combined 26 points and 17 rebounds. Foster also averaged 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.7 steals in the two games.
