CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University's men's golf team tees it up for the second time this season when it competes at Texas State's Sandestin Collegiate Classic, Monday – Wednesday, at the par-71, 6,931-yard Raven Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Florida.
Austin Peay is joined by Florida A&M, High Point, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, New Orleans, Nicholls, South Alabama, Texas State, Troy, and West Florida in the 13-team, 80-player field.
After leading the Governors with a 16th-place finish and a 70.33 scoring average in the season-opening Golfweek Fall Challenge, Patton Samuels leads the Governors off the first tee in the Sunshine State. Samuels has tallied a pair of counting scores in three rounds played, with one round in the 60s and two rounds at even or under par this season.
After playing as an individual in the Golfweek Fall Challenge, Parker Elkins is next in line for the Govs after recording a 28th-place finish and 71.00 scoring average in the season opener. Elkins also carded one round in the 60s and a team-best three rounds at even or under par in his first appearance of the season.
Next in line for Austin Peay, Grady Cox makes his season debut after recording a 76.07 scoring average as a freshman last year. Cox carded two rounds in the 60s and six at even or under par last season, while posting 17 counting scores in 27 rounds played while in the lineup for APSU.
Seth Smith is next on the tee for head coach Easton Key after carding a 74.00 scoring average in the season's first tournament. Smith carded a pair of counting scores in three rounds played at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, with one round at even or under par.
Rounding out the lineup, John Mark Mills makes his second appearance of the season after posting a 74.00 scoring average in his APSU debut at the Golfweek Fall Challenge. Mills has recorded a counting score in all three rounds this season, with one round at even or under par.
Finally, Jack Dyer will compete as an individual after making his Austin Peay debut in the season's first event. Dyer posted a 74.33 scoring average with three counting scores in three rounds played during his APSU debut at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.
Austin Peay is paired with New Orleans, Nicholls, and West Florida for the Sandestin Collegiate Classic's opening round, which begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, Monday.
