CONWAY, Ark. – Austin Peay State University's soccer team fell to Central Arkansas in a two-score shutout, Thursday, at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex.
By the Half
Central Arkansas showed its presence on offense early, as it took three shots in the first 18 minutes, with two of the three being on goal for saves by Megan Waskiewicz. The Bears continued their press in the 19th minute, working the ball down the pitch and into the box, where an Austin Peay handball led to a Central Arkansas penalty kick. Sakiko Manabe connected with the bottom left of the net, putting in her fourth goal of the season to put the Bears up by one score. Just one minute later, at the 20-minute mark, Megan Moudy was able to connect for her fifth goal of the season to go up 2-0, as both Caroline Billings and Jama Akpanudo picked up an assist on the play.
Central Arkansas continued its dominance in the second half, keeping Austin Peay scoreless and limiting the Governors to just two shots in the second frame. The Bears played patiently and strategically while still getting seven shots off in the final 45 minutes, five of which were on goal.
