CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University's lacrosse team prepares for its fifth Atlantic Sun Conference game, and road game of the conference season when it faces Kennesaw State at 12 p.m. (CT), Saturday at Fifth Third Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Austin Peay (4-9) is coming off a pair off a pair of losses to Queens and Costal Carolina during its first ASUN Conference road contests. Sophia Schwab led APSU in scoring across both contests, scoring twice in both games.
Sophomore midfield transfers Morgan Lantz and Kayla Hobday each gained possession for the Governors with three draw controls each, and the Governors totaled 18 caused turnovers between the respective games.
Kennesaw State is 6-5, and 1-1 in ASUN action. The Owls face Jacksonville at 3 p.m., Thursday. Goalkeeper Cybella Smith has a 45.4% save percentage and 9.63 goals-against average. Those marks rank second and third in the ASUN and 33rd and 32nd in the NCAA, respectively. Defender Lauren Dobbs currently sits alone in second in KSU history for caused turnovers in a season with 26 and is third on the all-time list with 78 in her career. The senior also only needs three more ground balls to become the seventh Kennesaw State player all-time to reach 100 career ground balls.
The Governors' inaugural team is comprised of 18 freshman, two redshirt sophomores, eight sophomores, one senior and a graduate student. The coaching staff includes head coach Melissa Rausch, assistant coach Grace Reinold, graduate assistant Annalise Carr, and volunteer coach Jess Russ.
