CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University's soccer team opens its 25th season with an exhibition match at Southern Illinois at 4 p.m., Friday, at Lew Hartzog Track & Field Complex in Carbondale, Illinois.
The Governors are coming off a 0-11-7 overall record from the 2025 season, where Austin Peay finished the season sixth in the Atlantic Sun Conference Gold Division standings. It looks to turn a new page as it sets its sights forward and heads into the United Athletic Conference this season. It starts with an exhibition against Southern Illinois, which was 10-6-3 overall a season ago and finished fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with a 4-4-1 conference record.
Austin Peay is 3-1-2 in exhibition matches under head coach Kim McGowan after blanking Belmont (Aug. 9) 1-0 at home last season in its last exhibition before the regular season.
