Clarksville, Tenn. – Senior Caroline Wistrom, of the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
After a tactical shake-up moved Wistrom from her usual place along the backline into an attacking position for the Governors, she responded with two goals and an assist in Austin Peay’s 4-1 drubbing of Jacksonville State.
Wistrom helped Claire Larose open the scoring with a nice feed to Larose at the near post in the 17th minute against the Gamecocks, then followed that with a 59th-minute goal that proved to be the gamewinner. Just over 10 minutes later, she netted her second goal, ripping a howler into the roof of the net off a Katie Kenward cross.
Wistrom's five points are the most by a Gov in a single game this season and makes her one of only 12 players in program history to have recorded five points in a game. Her efforts earned the Prospect, Kentucky native her first career Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
