Track's Johnson named APSU Athlete of the Week

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Junior track and field standout Sherlonda Johnson, who accounted for 32 of the Lady Govs' 63
points at the DePauw Indoor Invitational last weekend, has been named this week's Austin Peay State University Athlete of the
Week. This is the third time this season Johnson has won the honor.
The Fort Hood, Texas, native helped APSU to a fifth-place finish as she dominated both the triple jump and the long jump.
She won the long jump for the second consecutive week, this week with a 5.61m (18-05.00) leap. She won the triple jump with
an 11.40m (37-05.00) jump, which was one foot better than her nearest competitor. Johnson also added a second-place finish
in the 55-meter dash (7.17) and a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash.

Todd Babington averaged 12 points per game last week, as the Govs won an OT game against the Tennessee-Martin
Skyhawks, 67-63, and as they fell to second-ranked Murray State, 82-73.With eight seconds left in the game against
UTM, the freshman knocked down a three-pointer, putting the game into overtime. During the crucial overtime minutes,
Babington extended a two-point game into a five-point lead for the Govs with his final three-pointer of the game on 4-
of-9 shooting behind the arc. Against Murray State, the Crystal Lake, Ill. native went 6-of-6 from the free throw line and
shot 2-of-4 from three-point land.

Local product Ashley Haynes recorded back-to-back double-double performances, as she tallied 22 points and a
team-high 29 rebounds in the Lady Govs' losses at UTM and Murray State. In Thursday's contest against UTM, the
junior forward scored 12 points and brought down 11 rebounds. Against Murray State, she provided 11 points and 18
rebounds.
