Peay State University men's tennis team closed out its season with a 6-1 win
over Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State, Tuesday, in Clarksville. The
Govs finish 4-14 with a 2-7 league mark.
The
Govs won the doubles point for the fifth time this season. In fact, only once
did the Govs win the doubles competition and not win the match. Lucas De Brito
and Leandro Toloso-Zenklusen earned the win at No. 1 doubles, while Andrew Solarski and Patrick Puertolas won, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles.
Austin
Peay carried that momentum into the singles play and dominated the top five
matches. De Brito rolled at No. 1 singles over Yuri Pompeu. Leonardo Locatelli followed
suit winning in straight sets at No. 2. Puertolas, at No. 3 singles, won
despite losing the second set to Chris Horton.
The
Govs gathered only their second OVC win, the first coming against Tennessee State, April 4.
