Govs tennis close with win over Murray State

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University men's tennis team closed out its season with a 6-1 win over Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State, Tuesday, in Clarksville. The Govs finish 4-14 with a 2-7 league mark.

The Govs won the doubles point for the fifth time this season. In fact, only once did the Govs win the doubles competition and not win the match. Lucas De Brito and Leandro Toloso-Zenklusen earned the win at No. 1 doubles, while Andrew Solarski and Patrick Puertolas won, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles.

Austin Peay carried that momentum into the singles play and dominated the top five matches. De Brito rolled at No. 1 singles over Yuri Pompeu. Leonardo Locatelli followed suit winning in straight sets at No. 2. Puertolas, at No. 3 singles, won despite losing the second set to Chris Horton.

The Govs gathered only their second OVC win, the first coming against Tennessee State, April 4.
