PADUCAH, Ky. - Tennessee
Tech scored five unanswered runs on its way to a 5-4 victory against
Austin Peay in the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship,
Thursday afternoon, at Brooks Stadium.
Tennessee
Tech (34-22-1) second baseman Matt Mihoci's fielder's choice RBI in the
sixth inning capped the comeback victory. The Golden Eagles were down
by four runs after four innings, but got RBIs from three consecutive
batters in the fourth to cut the lead to 4-3, setting up the sixth
frame.
Austin
Peay (27-29) jumped out on the strength of its baserunning, stealing
six bases in the contest and stealing home twice in its three-run
fourth inning. Another stolen base in the fourth paved the way for
third baseman Greg Bachman's sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-0.
Golden
Eagles' reliever A.J. Kirby-Jones (4-1) picked up the victory after
holding the Govs to one run over the final 6.2 innings, striking out
six and walking four.
Austin Peay starter David Vicini (2-4) was tagged for the loss after allowing five runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings.
